Open prison in Jiřice: analysis of criminal records
Abstract:
The open prison in Jiřice has been operational since 2017. One of its objectives is to reduce the likelihood of reoffending among prisoners. Records from the open prison show that, for those who completed the entire treatment programme and were subsequently released, the penological recidivism rate was approximately 17% in mid-2025. This low rate was confirmed by a 2025 IKSP analysis of criminal records. Fewer than a third of convicts who successfully completed the treatment programme in the open prison and whose release was at least two years ago returned to prison.
